We start with a careful review of the architect’s
specifications, to ensure that the technical requirements
for fire rating, LEED requirements, species, cut, match
and balance, have been addressed. Next we review the project
scope, making sure that the designated veneer is sufficient
to complete the project successfully. We produce panel
layout drawings that correspond to and complement the
layout elevations from the woodworker, and review intent
relative to the architect’s drawings.
When all appears to be ready for production, we review
the veneer from the log bundle by bundle, designating
appropriate material to each elevation, accounting for
the natural variations and defects inherent in the veneer
log. Prior to clipping the veneer to width to make the
faces, we review leaf by leaf to check for manufacturing
and natural defects that might jeopardize a panel or an
entire elevation of panels. |
